About us

We're Chinatown

through and through

A beer (and pizza) story.

It all started in 2019 when Andrea and John got the keys to 702 Somerset Street West in beautiful Chinatown, Ottawa. It was a daunting task bringing the once beautiful red tiled building back to its glorious self, but we persevered over the course of twelve months and opened on January 8, 2020.

Obviously, we weren't totally expecting a global event to happen, but with the help of our amazing staff (aka Sparklers), we navigated through and managed to keep the supply of our hoppy, sour and all-around fun beers flowing.

We love what we do!

Our Beer

We have a lot of fun brewing beers that we truly enjoy drinking.

We source high-quality ingredients from fellow small producers like Mississippi Mills in Pakenham and Houblonière Lupuline in Chapeau, Quebec; craft people, like us, who have hands-on control over the quality of what they produce. While we continue to draw inspiration from Belgian brewing traditions, we also love a great IPA.

And these days, John is fully obsessed with lagers. YUM.

Our Pizza

As with beer, crafting pizza lets us explore fermentation and the deceptive simplicity of the best food on the planet.

Time, yeast, temperature, and humidity are essential ingredients long before we even think about what goes on top. Local producers like Valley Sausage are a staple on our menu, and our weekly pizzas give us the freedom to experiment and channel our creative energy.
